Alopecia Awareness Month: NYC Edition!
September is Alopecia Awareness Month, LeMetric is proud to help share and spread information on Alopecia. We will be participating in Alopecia Awareness events in NYC that are both fun and fabulous!
Some quick facts on Alopecia:
- Over 20 million women in the US currently suffer from a type of hair loss or hair thinning.
- Close to 95% of women who suffer from Alopecia are diagnosed with Androgenic Alopecia which in most cases is incurable.
- True hair loss occurs when lost hairs aren’t regrown or when daily hair shed exceeds 125 hairs.
Beauty with Pure Purpose is an event and fundraiser for Breast Cancer and Alopecia Research which is hosted at The Metropolitan Pavilion on September 15th at 5:30 pm. Elline will be part of the catwalk demonstrating her hairpieces and we will be auctioning a makeover at their high end silent auction. Be prepared to see co-hosts such as, Kayla Martell, Miss Delaware 2010 and a Miss America Finalist in 2011 who has Alopecia Areata and Suzette Michelle, fashion model and breast cancer survivor.
MAIN, Manhattan Alopecia Initiative & Network, is putting together NYC’s first “Bald Crawl” which is a bar crawl where participants can wear bald caps while spreading Alopecia Awareness. The Bald Crawl will travel throughout midtown as a group to different bars with drink specials. This is a fun, new networking event for Alopecians and their friends and family who want to spread awareness.
Elline’s Alopecia was the catalyst for LeMetric where we make hairpieces and hair extensions for women suffering hair loss and hair thinning for various reasons; be it medical or fashion. Don’t miss out on spreading awareness on Alopecia and don’t forget to wear your BLUE!. How will you help raise awareness on Alopecia this September?
